Tribute to Doug Connery

It is with a great deal of sadness that we learned of Doug Connery’s sudden passing on December 15, 2011. Doug served as a Director on the CAHRC Board, representing the Canadian Horticultural Council (CHC). He was a true leader and left a huge footprint on the farming community in Canada. In addition to his many years of involvement with the CHC (President in 2003 and Chair of the Human Resource Committee), Doug was also a founding member of the CAHRC. His understanding of the agriculture sector’s regional diversity and the importance of HR issues made him a key player in shaping the Council to what it is today. He brought much experience and knowledge to the CAHRC Board and will be fondly remembered by his many friends and colleagues for his creativity, willingness to compromise, commitment to the sector and passion for farming. He was a much respected individual who leaves an indelible mark on the paths he crossed, and he will be sorely missed by everyone at CAHRC.
