Memorandum of Understanding

between

Association of Canadian Community Colleges
(hereinafter referred to as “ACCC”)

and

The Canadian Agricultural Human Resource Council
(hereinafter referred to as “CAHRC”)

(Hereinafter also jointly referred to as the “Parties”)

Background:

ACCC is the national and international voice of Canada’s colleges and institutes. Its mandate is to:

ACCC’s “Affinity Groups” are representatives of member institutions who share a similar position, a similar sectoral focus or some other common areas of interest and come together to share ideas, exemplary and problematic practices, advocacy concerns and who occasionally organize joint activities for knowledge exchange and to explore and promote their common interests.

Sector Councils are partnership organizations that address skills development issues in key sectors of the economy. Sector Councils work as a uniting element to engage businesses, workers, educators, professional associations and government in a strategic alliance that is focused on determining the skills and human resource needs that will enable the sector to thrive.

The objectives of ACCC’s Sectoral Liaison Initiatives are:

ACCC and the Sector Councils wish to establish formal partnerships to address common issues related to human resource development. A key element of the collaborations will be the active engagement of the Association’s Affinity Groups.

Partnership:

CAHRC is the national human resource Sector Council for the agriculture industry. Its vision is to contribute to a thriving and internationally competitive Canadian agriculture sector with a skilled, well-trained, and technologically advanced workforce; its mission is to identify and develop innovative solutions to human resource issues in response to the needs identified by the Canadian agriculture sector. To accomplish this mission and achieve this vision, the Council must respond to the immediate human resource issues that are facing both employees and employers in this sector. CAHRC must also build a greater awareness amongst the agriculture industries, governments, and education institutions of human resource management issues and best practices–and the Council’s role in addressing these issues.

Whereas both parties have identified common areas of collaboration, it is understood that the Background and Partnership sections form an integral part of this Memorandum of Understanding, and the parties have freely and voluntarily agreed to the following:
